When killing the guards in a lethal matter, they will need to despawn first before the door opens. In that time Snake can move closer to the door. Non-Lethal takedowns don't require the guards to despawn to have the door open, but snake also needs to walk further. If a way is found to consistently one non-lethal shot both guards in this hallway, non-lethal can be faster.
